Free Chi Kung Session - link
For Uncivil Savant paid subscribers - Saturday 10th February 2024
Dear friends, here at last is the link to a scheduled Zoom meeting which will be a free 90 minutes Chi Kung instruction session for all paying Uncivil Savant subscribers (including comps…)
Start time of 5pm UK time means 9am-12 noon in USA, to make it possible for the maximum number of people to come. Time zone converter here. The link will not be posted publicly and is only available to Uncivil Savant subscribers, as I have an upper limit of 100 attendees. If a family member is in the room with you, they are welcome to join in!
This concludes my posts on Chi Kung, as I will have covered all the basic exercises I was taught, beginning 37 years ago, and have practiced all this time, alongside my T’ai Chi. We will be covering all the exercises for which I have posted as clips over the last year and adding the rather wonderful, longer, Five Elements Chi Kung, which is a set that lasts a minute or so. After the session I will send all attendees a link to the recording, and a film and instructions sheet of the set, to aid further practice.
If you would like to take part in this class, but have not yet become a paying subscriber, you are welcome to join just for this month, with no judgement from me… Then you can watch the previous clips and get ready before the class.
Just turn up with your video camera on, and wear warm, comfortable clothes and soft shoes, thick socks, or slippers. You’ll need enough space around you to move in all directions and swing your arms without hitting anything!
I will happily arrange further online classes if anyone wishes to do so. I taught online all through lockdown, and with care, it is a feasible way to study simple chi kung, T’ai Chi and meditation.
I was looking for chi kung pictures from my (rather sporadic) T’ai Chi photos files… and found this rather lovely snap, from 2012, when Iain McGilchrist was our guest of honour at my teacher’s summer intensive.
I have taught The Five Elements while trekking in the Himalayas in the 1990s, in a bar in Aberdeenshire, in countless T’ai Chi classes, in a Swedish Barn, on a boat in the middle of a river and on the top of a Welsh Hill, inside a stone circle. But even in an ordinary room, the benefits of this simple grounded practice can be felt. It’s easy to learn and relaxing yet energising to practice. there will be time at the end of the session for questions, and after the session I am happy to hang out and chat, if anyone wants to.
From next month there will be paid-subscriber only audio posts and extras, as well as twice yearly online meet ups with me for Founder Members.
Please get in touch with any queries. I look forward to meeting you.
