I really loved this conversation. Thank you, Iain and Caro, for yielding to this possibility. My heart is full and your “betweenness” here is helping me enormously with my own “quest(ion) to carry”.
That all sounds rather vague, but it’s quite concrete for me as it plays out in the stuff of my days.
SO excited that Iain brought up Bergson!!!!! One of my faves! Also Hans von Balthasar on time- “Time is the grand school of love” - from Heart of the World.
Such a brilliant conversation! And It landed in my email folder as I was signing up for tai chi class for the first time. I took it as a definite confirmation of my intention.
The need for difficulties and discomfort is such an important subject that I’ve been meditating over for sometime. I feel that it is so hard to do in our modern world because we are so disconnected from our intuitive non-rational knowing when pain and difficulties are normal part of a certain process and when it is not. When does the healing power of inflammation turns into distractive force and so on.

Thank you once again!
Wonderful conversation! I’m about to listen again.
